Human health is priceless. It is inherited but, unfortunately, it is worn away with laps of time. Health is the category that is bound to the very person that is why it is very difficult to price it. The two-day seminar that took place in Kyiv 28-29 September 2004 (the EU Project Health Financing and Management in Ukraine) was devoted to the problem of pricing healthcare services.

The representatives of the Ministry of Health, international experts from Poland, Finland, healthcare administrators, scientists, and journalists took part in the work of the seminar.

  • Practical Use of Payment-for-Case System in Hospitals. Information systems. Codes for Diseases and Procedures

Speakers expressed their opinions on what healthcare economy is, what factors influence its condition, what tasks the healthcare management is facing, what is the right way to make series of management decisions, and how to use the current and new models of healthcare management. The experts consider that standard market mechanisms cannot be used in the healthcare sector. That is why it is important to take into account the experience of other countries and specifics of the national system.

Besides, during the seminar there were discussed the issues of healthcare services prime cost calculation and the use of information systems in the activity of healthcare facilities.
